VMWare loaded Windows XP no problem after that was done. In case you have more than one instance Step 3: Resume the VM. Thanks a lot, this helped me on vmware server. Now, i had a problem i was unable to open .VMDK file(ECC6.0) because the snap shot support file with extension .VMX missing in its folder.

When I start this VM, WS8 flashes a message "This virtual machine's CMOS is not compatible with this version of workstation. My system started freezing up (due to REAL hardware problem, not VMware), and I had to force-reboot the hardware several times before the bad video card was diagnosed and replaced. It worked for a few months and then stopped working (the replication, not the VM).
