Seems to have fixed the problem: when I restart (every so often), no Finder on start up.
It was like this long before Lion and the Resume feature.Make sure all Finder windows are closed before you shutdown/restart. So I had to do a hardware power off instead.I played around with the setting and finnally - after severl hard reboots and a lot of try this & try that Only other applications that work well. It is only because I see that it is Steam in your screenshot that I remembered seeing it. More Help You may also need to check the Finder Preferences. Multiple Finder Windows Open On Startup I have done the steps you have suggested. Icloud Reseting Safari doesn't either.

Here's a tip: You can drag and drop the application directly from the Spotlight search window, so you don't even have to open Finder to find it. It's like fighting with my Mac.
