It always gets past the black screen boot menu and the black screen "your computer was shut down improperly"(my paraphrase) which has safe mode options and stuff. It's probably not a great idea to try fixing the registry on your own. But still, 10+ years on the same MSI mobo seems impressive to me. I swear my desktop has a personal vendetta against me.
