This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. nslookup sees the IP of dc2 and makes a query against it looking for dc1, then returns the results to you. I started sifting through the zones in the DNS and noticed that I was missing a pointer record for DC1. I can't remember if it actually sends out the DNS request and silently drops the responses or if it never generates them.
